MHSD awards 50 housing resettlement units in Pigcawayan, SGA

𝗣𝗜𝗚𝗖𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡, 𝗦𝗚𝗔

– On June 20, 2023, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) held an awarding ceremony of 50 housing resettlement units for the former combatants and families of martyrs at Brgy. Buricain, Pigcawayan, Special Geographic Area (SGA).

Funded under the Special Development Fund (SDF) 2020, this project aimed to address the community’s housing needs. Its completion marks a milestone for the BARMM region, as it is the MHSD’s first finished housing project on the mainland. It signifies progress and tangible improvement in the region’s infrastructure and services. This initiative sets a positive example for other regions and showcases BARMM’s commitment to the welfare of its constituents.

In his speech, Senior Minister Abunawas “Von Alhaq” Maslamama emphasized the importance of addressing the community’s housing needs and commended the MHSD for their efforts.

MP Mohammad Kelly Antao also expressed gratitude for the BARMM government’s commitment to housing projects and acknowledged its collective effort to provide secure and sustainable housing solutions.

MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra informed the attendees of Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim’s absence due to unforeseen circumstances. However, he assured everyone of the Chief Minister’s dedication to the project and the community’s well-being.

The recipients expressed joy and gratitude as they embraced the opportunity to move into safe and dignified homes. The event marked a significant period in their lives and reflected the government’s commitment to improving the well-being of its citizens.

Other notable personalities in attendance were MHSD Director Esmael W. Ibrahim, Engr. Humshorie A. Mamulintao of SDF-PMO, who represented BPDA Director General and SDF-PMO Project Manager Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA, Abusaima Husain from the Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), and representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
