Bayanga Norte, Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte.

The said project was funded under the Special Development Fund FY 2020 through the initiative of MP Baileng S. Mantawil and was implemented by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) – Maguindanao del Norte District Engineering Office (DEO) headed by Engr. Avila D. Abobakar.

The project aims to establish a peaceful industrial area in Sitio Marayag in order to make an impact on economic development and peace promotion in BARMM.

In his message, BDG Ali expressed his support for the completion and beginning of the project’s operation.

“As we witness the turnover of this project, we anticipate the successful fulfillment of objectives, including providing livelihood opportunities for Bangsamoro within this area, with aims at supporting the local farmers and fishermen, elevating product quality, and economic diversification,” he said.

The Marayag BARMM Integrated Local Farmers and Fishermen Food Terminal and Complex project was comprised of a public market, admin building, public terminal, road, lined canal, and decentralized water treatment system (phase 1). This will have fully functional facilities that can lodge the products of Matanog farmers and fisherfolks and provide accessible transportation for commuters.

According to Hon. Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, Municipal Mayor of Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte, the said project is “a major breakthrough that has a significant impact on the lives of people in this municipality and part of the legacy in the Matanog area.”

MP Mantawil emphasized that the construction of the project marks the establishment of an economic zone in Matanog.

“This economic zone is not just a physical manifestation of progress. It is a symbol of the human spirit’s ability to overcome, to adapt, and thrive,” she said.

Moreover, the said project will also provide opportunities to the former MILF combatants, farmers, fishermen, and civilians in their livelihood and create a secured area for business and tourism in the Bangsamoro region.
